FatMan here. This picture was taken and the text written on 11/03/2007. I am still at 181 pounds but am now in my FINAL PUSH down to my goal weight of 175 pounds. I have targeted 11/16/2007 to be finished up with my "weight reduction" cycle. From there my efforts will focus on toning my body and maintaining my weight at 175 pounds or less. It will be interesting what effects any muscle gains will have on my weight. It is my hope that any gained muscle "weight" will be mostly offset by corresponding lost fat weight. We will see.

Even though this week I really didn't lose but 1 pound I did lose .75" in my waist. That is why I think that taking your measurements is so important. You can show nice PROGRESS without necessarily showing a lot of weight loss RESULTS. I actually went out yesterday and bought me some SIZE 34 waist jeans. I went home and took them out of the bag. They looked really SMALL to me. I was wondering if I would be able to wear them. I really got them to wear after I finished losing all of my weight. (Even my size 36 pants are now kind of big). Anyway I stepped in and started to pull. I was waiting for the dreaded "thigh catch" where the jeans stop coming up your legs. That didn't happen, they keep coming right up my legs. Next was the "gut squeeze test". You know where you have to suck in your gut to fasten your jeans. To my surprise they fit without having to suck in my gut or even hold my breath.
THEY FIT! They actually fit me pretty good. Not tight not loose just about right. I fit in size 34 waist jeans. WOW! I was shocked. Very happy but shocked. This FatMan is getting close to realizing a dream/goal that I have had for a very very long time.

Needless to say I have been wearing them ever since. I even used them as my "dress pants" shot for my weekly update photos.  Look below for the side view. On the left is the "original" FatMan back at the start of June. The right side shows the latest "version". As long as I am "sharing" there is something else worth telling you that really boosted my confidence this week.

In my closet I have a belt rack. On it I have kept a few belts from when I was last this small. Way back in 1993 I got down to 170 pounds and wore a size 36/34 belt. It is one of those rope belts so I don't know the exact size but it was so small to me that I just kept it all these "fat years" knowing that if/when I ever got to where I could wear it again I would be at the right size. It was kind of a wish belt, a reminder of who I could be again physically. I went right to my closet, took that belt out and threaded it around my waist. To my surprise/delight not only did it fit I had some room to spare.

God Bless us Fat People. I am a very happy fat man.
